"They will still bear fruit in old age...."
~ Psalm 62:14 ~

Look at any pictures of our Harvest Table, or our gifts to Rainbow of Hope in Cardiff, and you will spot gloves! Lots of hand-knitted gloves, and perhaps some hats and children's cardigans even. And this is why....

Elvie Bevan (known to everyone as "Mrs. Bev") is one of our oldest members, now 95 years old. As this picture shows, she spends much of her time knitting (with her favourite pets not far away!).

Each year Mrs. Bev knits over 100 pairs of gloves, as well as hats & cardigans. We'll leave you to do the maths. Any donated wool and remnants are used, resulting in a range of multicoloured gloves & mittens. Some are sold at the church (to raise maney for Rainbow of Hope) and the rest go straight to Cardiff. We have no idea who will end up wearing them, but they will hopefully help some of the vulnerable & homeless of our capital city to be a little warmer through the cold winter.

Mrs. Bev's knitted gifts are well received in  Cardiff, and her testimony is an encouragement to us all. There's a saying in the church; "God doesn't do retirement or redundancy".

There's always something that each of us can do, and nobody has an excuse for not doing anything! To quote the Psalmist from the Old Testament;

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
Planted in the house of the Lord,
    they will flourish in the courts of our God.
They will still bear fruit in old age,
    they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming,
‘The Lord is upright;
    he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.’
(Psalm 93:12-15)

Mrs. Bev would also like to say a big "THANK YOU!" to all the people who have supplied the wool - a necessary ingredient without which there'd be no gifts to send to Cardiff at all!
